NEW at the Virginia Children's Festival this year is the Mini Maker’s Market, where artists ages 12 and younger can apply to sell their handmade goods during the festival. The mission of the Mini Maker’s Market is to support young entrepreneurs and to help them practice their business and economics skills. Artists will keep all money from their sales.
How the market works
Date and Time: The Mini Maker's Market wil ltake place during the Virginia Children's Festival at Town Point Park on Saturday, October 5th from 10am to 3pm.
Participation: Kids ages 12 and under in the Hampton Roads community who make and sell their own products.
Products: Kids are encouraged to get creative. They can sell almost any hand-crafted item, games, ect.. No reselling of store-bought items.
Selling: At the market, the kids are in charge of all the selling, and answering questions regarding their products. Parents can help set up the booth, then sit back, relax, and give the kids this valuable opportunity to learn and grow. Each artist will be provided an outdoor space with two 6-foot tables with tablecloths, and two chairs.
Registration: Required for all participants. Once you complete the the application you will receive an email notifying you of your acceptance or denial to participate in the market. If you are accepted to participate further information and next steps will be provided at that time. Applications are approved/denied on a rolling basis.
