Bark your calendars! Norfolk Festevents is excited to host Downtown’s second “Puppy de Mayo Yappy Hour” in Town Point Park along the Downtown Norfolk Waterfront on Thursday May 19, 2016 5pm-8pm. This event is Free and open to the paw-blic!

Join us in the park with your pooch for a fun evening and treat your pup to a night on the town while overlooking the Elizabeth River.  This one of a kind event will feature complimentary snacks and treats for your furry friends. Humans can enjoy beer, wine and Yappy Hour drink specials such as Mutt-a-ritas, Pup-sicle Cocktails, Greyhounds and other crafty cocktails to get your tail wagging will be available for purchase along with delicious seasonal food truck creations. Dine and dance on the Downtown Waterfront with your canine counterpart while enjoying live music by Brian Sewell.

Norfolk was recently named one of the “Top 100 best places in the country for Dogs” by Men’s Health Magazine (18 out of 100) (http://www.menshealth.com/best-life/best-dog-cities) and we could not agree more!  To celebrate, we are planning this event especially for man’s best friend with local dog-friendly businesses including Doggie Days Cares, Puppy Play Pools, Doggie Dining Areas, Pet Grooming, pampering and more!

There will be a costume competition for “Best Dressed Dog”, so bring your pup in their best costume to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. Judging will take place throughout the event with the winner announced at 7:30pm.  A portion of the evening’s proceeds will go to Fetch a Cure ; a non-profit pet organization designed to raise awareness, educate and provide pet owners with greater access to information about pet cancer. For more information visit www.fetchacure.org.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all, dog owners are asked to comply with these rules and considerations: Dogs who attend must be socialized with other dogs, remain on a leash at all times and have their tags/vaccinations up to date.  Owners are responsible for picking up after their pooches.
